Basic Rules of Rugby

Rugby as chaotic and brutal of a sport it is, its actually considered control chaos. Below is a list of basic rules that you will need to know to get a better understanding of the game.


  • 15 Players on the pitch (the feild) for each side.
    • 7 Backs
    • 8 Forwards
  • A try, which is when you bring the ball into your 'try' zone and touch the ball down is worth 5 points. After a try is scored you have the opportunity for a conversion kick worth 2 points.
  • You can also score on a penalty kick or a drop goal which is worth 3 points.
  • Match duration 80 minutes which is divided into 2 half's
    • 40 minutes half's
